Isabel and her Kitten

Jill Heins, Missouri, United States

We walk daily at Drake Harbor in Warsaw, Missouri. When we saw a stray calico cat and her kitten while on our walk, we fed them. The mother cat was acclimated to people, but her kitten was not. After we got the kitten to the point where we could pet her, we took them to the vet and had them spayed and adopted them. Here’s a photo of Isabel (the mother cat). As it turns out, Isabel had a broken pelvis and was pregnant. The vet said she’d never survive giving birth because of the trauma to her pelvis. She would have given birth in a month, so their adoption was very timely.
