Advocating for Cats on Social Media

Jamaka Petzak, California, United States

Because we live in the Information Age, I have availed myself of an amazing opportunity to help cats globally via sharing and advocating for them on social media. It has been said that most cats are first seen on the internet before being adopted, so most animal care and control agencies, shelters, rescues, and sanctuaries have set up sites where prospective adopters can see the cats. The big “finder” sites also get shared by me, as much as possible, for the same reason, as do personal posts asking for help with Trap-Neuter-Return and feeding colonies, rehoming cats in personal residences, etc. Additionally, I advocate for cats globally by sharing international cat rescue/adoption sites and pages via social media, and share tips, suggestions, and links so that others can find help or share in helping. Anyone with a device can do this for as many or as few hours daily as they wish. I invite everyone reading this to join me in doing so. Together, we are making, and will continue to effect, positive change for cats!
