Seven years ago, a female cat lived around an apartment parking lot here in Phoenix. A woman who lived there noticed that the cat was pregnant and about to give birth. She caught the cat and brought her into her apartment to have the kittens. After the four male kittens were born, the woman talked to her mom and said she didn’t know what to do with the cats. Her mother told her to put them in a box and leave them in a park.
Fortunately, a neighbor intervened and took the mom cat and the four kittens to our vet, Dr. Grant, who has a wonderful cats-only office. Our cat had just died of cancer at his office and when I went to pick up his carrier, Dr. Grant met me out front and told me he had a mother cat and four tiny kittens in the back and asked if I’d like to see them. I immediately told him we would take two of the kittens when they were old enough.
After thinking about it for a couple days I told him we would also take the mother cat when all the kittens had homes. So we brought home two kittens and a week later we brought home their mom. They were glad to see her, and they are all happy and healthy today.
