A Feral Inheritance

Nancy Teliski, Ohio, United States

An old feral colony decided to adopt me when their caregiver passed away. I started out with about 15 ferals, but after a year of successful TNR, I’m down to five with no new kittens, although I do miss the little ones. They are all in happy loving homes now. Two of the ferals were able to be tamed and now live with my three indoor rescues. The five that are left have been with me now for about five years. They are happy, healthy, and well cared for. They have shelter and warm heated houses for the winter, along with heated water and food bowls which are always filled with tasty foods and treats. And in the spring and summer I have a huge section of my garden dedicated to their favorite catnip!

It would be great to see a few vets who could make house calls for strictly feral cats.

Although I didn’t originally sign up for this, I am so glad they chose me as their caretaker. It has been a very rewarding experience and as long as I’m able, I’ll be there for those who need a warm bed, good food, and most of all, unconditional love!
